Frequently Asked Questions
Can I look at the items before I bid?
Each auction will have information regarding where the items are located, the name and telephone
number of the contact person, and, if applicable, a scheduled preview time. If there is a specified preview
time, you may preview auction items only during this time, no exceptions.
How do I bid?
Select the auction you would like to view. When the bidding for the auction is open you will have the
opportunity to enter Your Bid or your Maximum Bid for each item. Enter your bidding number and
password at the bottom of the screen to submit the bid(s).
What is a Maximum Bid?
A Maximum Bid is the highest dollar amount you are willing to pay for an item. Here is an example of
using the Maximum bid feature: If you enter a Maximum bid the system will automatically bid on your
behalf up to your Maximum bid amount. For example, let's assume that the next bid requirement is
$100.00, you enter a Maximum bid of $400. If no other bids are placed on that item you will be the winner
at your $100 bid. If another bidder places a bid of $200 on the item you will now be winning at the $200
plus 1 increment level (for example: $200 + $10 = $210).
May I raise my Maximum Bid?
You can also raise your Maximum Bid WITHOUT having to raise your own bid! Our Maximum Bidding
Tool will now allow you to raise your Maximum Bid. For example, you originally placed a Maximum Bid
amount of $50.00 and now you want to increase the maximum bid to $100.00 - all you need to do is
submit another bid for the $100.00 bid in the "Maximum Bid" box. As long as your previous Maximum Bid
was at least 1 increment higher then any other bidders' Maximum Bid, the current price on the item will
not change.
Do you ship items?
Shipping is available, unless otherwise noted on a particular item or auction, to the continental United
States via UPS or the USPS only. We will ship your purchase for the actual shipping charges plus a $5.00
handling fee per item with a $10.00 minimum handling fee. On larger items, crating is available for a
charge upon request. Trucking may also be arranged. Call or email to request a quote.
How long do I have to pay for my items?
Unless stated otherwise in a specific auctions terms, all auction purchases must be paid for within four (4)
business days of the auction closing. Any purchases not paid for in full within four days of the online
auction's closing date may be charged to the credit card on file for your bidder number, or resold at the
discretion of Owner/Seller or Upnorthbid, LLC.
How long do I have to pick up my items?
The date by which all merchandise must be removed from the premises is posted on an auction-byauction
basis, on the specific auction page. After the final removal date, there will be a $25.00 per day,
per item or lot storage fee charged to the Buyer. If merchandise is not removed within ten days after the
final removal date, the ownership of the merchandise will revert back to the original Owner/Seller and the
Owner/Seller may dispose of or resale the item or lot at Owner/Seller's discretion.
What are bid increments?
A bid increment is the minimum amount required to raise the bid. For example, if the current bid on an
item is $100, you must bid at least $105 to raise the bid. Bid increments are set at $2.50, $5.00, $10.00,
$20.00, $50.00, $100.00, $500.00 and $1,000.00. You may not bid in increments smaller than the set bid
increment for an item.
What if I change my mind after bidding?
By bidding on an item you are creating a contract that is enforceable in a court of law. Upnorthbid, LLC
will pursue all legal remedies required to enforce this contract. The terms of usage prevent retraction of a
bid once it has been made. If you are unsure about an item, DO NOT BID; no bids will be retracted.
Do I have to pay sales tax?
The State of Minnesota requires us to collect sales tax for all applicable sales. If you believe you are
entitled to an exemption from Minnesota sales tax, please complete the appropriate form and e-mail it to
our office prior to bidding.
How does the Auto-Extend feature work?
If an auction receives a bid in the last three minutes, the ending time for that auction will automatically be
extended by three minutes. Once three minutes have passed without any bidding, the item will close.
How will I know if I am the high bidder?
You will receive an invoice by e-mail after the auction closes.
How do I pay?
We accept Cash, Bank wire transfers, Visa, Master Card, Discover, cashier's checks and money orders.
We do not accept personal or business checks.
